چکیده
A metal-assisted chemical etching process employing p-type silicon wafers with varied durations is used to produce nanowires. Silver nanoparticles prepared by deposition are utilized as a catalyst in the formation of Images from field emission scanning electron microscopy confirmed that diameter SiNWs grows when duration increased. The photoelectrochemical cell's characteristics were investigated using nanowires working electrodes. Linear sweep voltammetry (J-V) measurements on p-SiNWs photocurrent density rose 0.20 mA cm-2 0.92 increased 15 30 min. conversion efficiency (ƞ) was 0.47 for 15-minute time and 0.75 30-minute time. cyclic (CV) experiments performed at various scan rates validated faradic behavior p-SiNWS min etching. Because slow ion diffusion rate, capacitance decreased increasing rate. Mott-Schottky (M-S) investigation showed significant carriers concentration 3.66×1020 cm-3. According results electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), photocathode had charge transfer resistance 25.27 Ω, which low enough enhance interfacial transfer.

The development of low cost, scalable, renewable energy technologies is one of today’s most pressing scientific challenges. We report on progress towards the development of a photoelectrochemical water-splitting system that will use sunlight and water as the inputs to produce renewable hydrogen with oxygen as a by-product. This system is based on the design principle of incorporating two separa...
متن کاملCu2O Photocathode for Low Bias Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting Enabled by NiFe-Layered Double Hydroxide Co-Catalyst
Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are bimetallic hydroxides that currently attract considerable attention as co-catalysts in photoelectrochemical (PEC) systems in view of water splitting under solar light. A wide spectrum of LDHs can be easily prepared on demand by tuning their chemical composition and structural morphology. We describe here the electrochemical growth of NiFe-LDH overlayers on C...
متن کاملEfficiency limits for photoelectrochemical water-splitting
Theoretical limiting efficiencies have a critical role in determining technological viability and expectations for device prototypes, as evidenced by the photovoltaics community's focus on detailed balance. However, due to their multicomponent nature, photoelectrochemical devices do not have an equivalent analogue to detailed balance, and reported theoretical efficiency limits vary depending on...
متن کاملFacet cutting and hydrogenation of In(2)O(3) nanowires for enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting.
Semiconductor nanowires (NWs) are useful building blocks in optoelectronic, sensing, and energy devices and one-dimensional NWs have been used in photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting because of the enhanced light absorption and charge transport. It has been theoretically predicted that the {001} facets of body center cubic (bcc) In2O3 nanocrystals can effectively accumulate photogenerated...
